{The Front Steps Project}

Strengthening community begins with the first step. For us it starts on the front step.

#TheFrontStepsProject, started by Boston photographer Cara Soulia and marketing consultant Kristen Collins, bring us together virtually despite being - and maybe feeling - isolated. We aim to highlight the faces of our community during a time when we might not see them in passing at the grocery store, coffee shop, on the train or at the gym.

Yes, even these are days to remember....

As a photographer, and like many of you, due to the mandatory COVID-19 stay at home orders, I find myself:

1) missing the work that I love

2) missing seeing new people

3) wanting to do something, anything, the help

WHAT CAN WE DO?

I always say "These are days to remember"...these unusual days are no different. The Front Steps Project aims to bring communities together (virtually and absolutely with strict social distancing!) in a time when we are isolated. I know it is hard to imagine, but there will come a time when we will look back on these times together and remember the tender things too. Like it or not this is a part of our lives and I believe it deserves to be documented.

I will come to your home (outside only, and from at least 10 feet away). You will come away with a family portrait documenting this unusual moment in time.

The cost of your shoot is a donation to The San Diego Foundation's San Diego COVID-19 Response Fund. Through your donation, together we can help out a little (or a lot!).

HOW DO WE DO IT?

1) Contact me via this form to schedule a 5 minute photo shoot for your family gathered at the front of your home. The details are up to you. Coordinate outfits or show up in your quarantine wear with masks (let's be real, I am living in my sweats). Remember, in my opinion, this is about documenting life as it is.

2) Make a donation to benefit THE SAN DIEGO FOUNDATION'S SAN DIEGO COVID-19 COMMUNITY RESPONSE FUND. Send me an email copy of the receipt for your donation.

3) You will be sent digital files (3-7 images) of your family portrait via email.
